Thinking about gathering objects for collage and I have had a few questions on what objects would be good.
Then I read a quote from Raymond Pettibow
“Somewhere in New York City there are four or five -four and a half still unknown objects that belong together.Once together they’ll make a work of art.”
and I thought that summed up what we will be doing.
Think interesting shapes and different scale and texture, pattern and tone.
Find a bit of red/green/yellow cloth to have in there somewhere
and some other random objects…something to pin on the wall behind…something to drape, something to join two objects in some way..
have alook at another artists still life and see waht they used
have a look at Kevin Lincoln’s work at the Niagara gallery website
Also I have just been up to the Pah Homestead and seen Koshanna Bush’s work.. which must have its origins in collage and is very relevant to work we did last term
Go and have a look at it- amazingly complex figure studies in guoache
