Foliage, fabric and flowers

This term we did some observation exercises involving drapery  and foliage

Drawing Drapery is an age old discipline involving well honed observation skill and i was pleased to see that many of you included that new skill into your compositions of foliage.

Drawing the foliage was interesting too. Spatial considerations come into prominence with foliage and we achieved some biting negative spaces.

I was really pleased with how it all went..foliage is never easy at the best of times…each plant has its own proportions relationships and personality , so it is really like doing a portrait…complicated (madly)  if there are many of them…then you have to deal with creating layers

It taught us about good  observation and not making things up also
